Welcome to Yacht-Chef.com! |
This website is just for chefs who work aboard yachts, or would like to work aboard yachts. Our website is currently in the development stages - please bear with us. Our goal is to offer a place where paid subscribers can post a Resume or C.V., sample menu and up to 6 photographs. We recommend a photo of the chef, and 5 photos of food prepared by the chef. We find combining the sample menu with photos of the chef's creations very effective in attracting potential employers. We will offer a d.i.y. service If you already have your information ready to post to the internet, or know how to do the formatting yourself, this will be the way you want to go. The cost will be $75 US for six months hosting on yacht-chef.com. We will also offer a deluxe service If you would like someone on our staff to format your resume, photos and sample menu, we offer this service starting at $150 US for six months hosting on yacht-chef.com. You may contact info (at) yacht-chef.com |

A Yacht Chefs Take: The Past Twenty Years |
Written by Mary Beth Johnson I am approaching another year employed as a professional yacht chef, and I want to impart my reflections, from the professional chef’s standpoint, on what has happened over the past twenty years in an industry which has seen remarkable change and growth. When asked how the phrase, “yachting for dollars” reflects this diverse industry, let me profess that this is indeed my description of how yachting has evolved over two decades, especially for yacht chefs. Not only have yachts gotten much bigger, crews, including chefs, now command much more respect. They are either highly trained or certified beyond belief and their salaries reflect that point. There are now more vessels being built than there are professionals to run them, including chefs. Salaries for crew in general and chefs in particular are now at a premium. Consequently, extremely young professionals are now the standard found in yachting, especially among chefs. |
